Reception rooms

The Grand Salon

Because of its size and its rich furnishing, the Grand Salon provides an atmosphere both refined and warm. People gather there for an aperitif before going to the dinin room and return there for coffee and calvados, moments of conviviality which can last late into the night...

The Billard Room

As you leave the Grand Salon you get to the Billiard Room through a long corridor where you may come upon several "grandes dames"? Every chateau must have a billiard room which, like Tintin, is of interest to everybody from 7 to 77!

The Dining Room

The size of the dining room is impressive, but it is as well suited for intimate dinners for a dozen good friends as for meals enjoyed by twenty, thirty, even fifty people. Pictures of the family ancestors and the huge animal painting by Snyder and by other Dutch painters of the 17th century make this room a true living museum. The dining room serves as a setting for relaxed and friendly buffet lunches and for dinners by candlelight, elegant, warm, and refined. The family style, inventive cuisine is offered and served by the chateau staff. The dishes are prepared with locally grown products and many of them (fruits, vegetables, meats), come directly from the farm or our garden.

The Music Room

The 18th century Music Room very well represents The Enlightenment when recitals were given for notable guests and family members. Many 18th century paintings represent these gracious moments of social and daily castle life. We've given new life to this tradition, and over many years at Canisy a large part of the classical repertoire has been played by renowned artists, in a atmosphere more suitable for our time , more relaxed and warm. The musicians and their audience share magic moments, and the concerts hold an important place in the imagination of all the people who have stayed at Canisy.

The Bar

Continuing down the corridor after the billiard room you get to the English bar, which offers a relaxed and modern atmosphere.
It's a place to take a break between meetings, a place to have a drink while listening to jazz

The Theatre

After crossing the bar, you get to the Theatre "Laurent Terzieff", where for several years the " Troupe of Canisy" charmed the adults audience by presenting plays of Anouilh...
The acoustics of the theatre are also excellent for the musical recitals. Additionally the theatre can be easily converted into a conference room for colloquiums and seminars.

La Discothèque

Castles are often too pretentious, and too... respectable to provide a good setting for the "night owls" who want to prolong the celebration on a dance floor. At Canisy we took care of this problem by giving a new purpose to our venerable medieval cellars...
Transformed into a twenty-first century discotheque, the vaulted caves provide a genuine surrealist atmosphere to excite people of all ages.
As if that's not enough, according to experts the disco-cave is an unintentional replica of the Cavern in Liverpool where the Beatles first played in the early 60's.
